    New Reading Services Available!

Read book excerpts in your email.Subscribe to monthly book lists.Join an interactive community of readers.

In cooperation with DearReader.com, your library introduces three new online reading resources to help you find interesting things to read and track your personal reading tastes.

To encourage use of these new services, we will be holding drawings for gift certificates to The Village Bookshelf. Earn entries in the drawings by registering for any or all of the services described here. One prize valued at $20.00 will be awarded for each service (Book News, Online Book Clubs, and Next Good Book).

You may register for all three drawings, but may only win one certificate. If the same email address is drawn for more than one service, a second email address will be drawn in order to have three different winners. The contest began on February 9, 2009, and drawing entries will be collected until March 9, 2009. Winners will be selected by March 14 and will be contacted by email.

Registration for services will continue indefinitely after the contest deadline, but only email addresses collected before March 9th will be considered for the drawing.

Click on the highlighted name of a service below or a logo from the left column to register and be eligible for a drawing prize. Happy reading!

    Online Book Clubs

Sign up for thematic online book clubs to receive five-minute selections from featured book tiles in your email Inbox each weekday morning. By the end of the week, you will have a 2-3 chapter head start on a book, which may then be borrowed from the library if the you want to finish the story. There are currently eleven email book club subjects to choose from, including mysteries, pre-published fiction, non-fiction, books for teens, and several other topics.

    BookNews

This service provides access to free electronic book lists that can be delivered directly to your email address or RSS reader. The newsletters include reviews, descriptions and author commentaries. The newsletters link directly to the library's online catalog, where you can place holds on items you wish to check out.

    Next Good Book

The third reading selection resource is an interactive site that invites
you to create lists of books you have read, label books and keep them on virtual "shelves" or lists in the system, look at shelves created by other readers, and submit comments about books online.
